The Clean Air Council

..seeks to support community residents and stakeholders to learn about environmental law and policy, environmental pollution and some of the solutions to disparate health impacts on communities in and around Detroit. Program is implemented through the support of UD Mercy School of Law, the Ecology Center, and Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition.

The Clean Air Council is 10-12 participants who meet for 8 class periods of 3 hours. Each from January- August, learning from community leaders in the environmental justice fields.

Each class also incorporates community building, and popular education techniques which interrogate power.  Community members will be asked to review local causes to pollution, the impacts on health and to take action to change the outcomes of decisions made by the State of Michigan and local municipalities.”
